Be Mindful
(James 4:14 NIV) Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes.

I pulled up to a stop light yesterday. Two people pulled up in a car beside me. They had the windows down, and they were vaping. Watching them blow the thick white smoke from their mouths led me to wonder what they would say to God - in that moment - if that were their last breath. Life is just that brief. And while vaping isn’t the only unhealthy activity that can increase the brevity of our existence, it is included on the list of things we need to take the time to think about and resolve whether it is beneficial to our best service for the Kingdom of God. For the short amount of time we’re here in the earth, do our activities honor the temple God has placed our souls in?  Take time to be mindful of the things you do, why you do them, how you do them, and for whom you do them. The fact that we are imperfect humans has no bearing on the truth that we are commanded to follow the example of our Savior. By and by, our efforts will help us to be better people for ourselves and for each other.
