The Earth Is the Lord’s
(Psalm 95:4-5) In his hands are the depths of the earth, and the mountain peaks belong to him. The sea is his, for he made it, and his hands formed the dry land.

“I’ve come to appreciate the planet we live on. It’s a small ball in a large universe. It’s a very fragile ball but also very beautiful. You don’t recognize that until you see it from a little farther off.”
Guion S. Bluford, Jr. 1942 – present (First African American to travel into space, aerospace engineer, retired U.S. Airforce officer and fighter pilot, former NASA astronaut)

The earth is a living planet created by the hands of God. It is beautiful, lush, and abundant with inhabitants, vegetation, water, land, and other natural resources. But like anything else that is alive, it is fragile. For years, the earth has been showing us the effects of humanity’s abuse. Land and water pollution and atmospheric emissions are examples of numerous ways we have put major cracks in the ebb and flow of the earth’s natural balance. Our negligence has put future generations at a disadvantage of living and thriving in a world that is healthy and vital. The earth is the Lord’s, and He gave us the responsibility to care for it in reverence to Him. We must stop doing the things that destroy it, and give it the attention and care it requires so it can continue to provide for us. This is our home away from Home. Let’s honor it by tilling its soil, planting seeds, cleaning up waste, and filtering the air. Let’s help this earth to thrive.
