A Well-Knitted Body
(Colossians 2:2) I want them to be encouraged and knit together by strong ties of love. I want them to have complete confidence that they may understand God’s mysterious plan, which is Christ himself.

I visited one of my long-time church members a few days ago. As we sat talking and reminiscing, I had the inquisitive joy of watching her knit what would eventually become a sweater. Engrossed in the rhythmic motion of her hands, I noticed she started missing a stitch every so often. “What’s going on there?” I asked. She explained to me that she ‘dropped’ a stitch here and there in order to create a buttonhole. I thought to myself this is how holes are created in the body of Christ! When church unite and serve others through a relationship in Jesus, they form a well-knitted body. But when they serve in selfishness or an antiquated perspective of religion, they lose or ‘drop’ members of the body and create holes that make the church vulnerable and incomplete. How can we prevent ‘drops’ from occurring in the church? In John 13:34, Jesus says we are to ‘…love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another.’ When we fellowship with Jesus love for each other, we can be a well-knitted body bound together by the strongest fiber of Love - Jesus Himself.
