Pride
(Proverbs 16:18) Pride goes before destruction, a haughty spirit before a fall.

Pride should reflect your confidence in God and your life in Him as it serves His Kingdom purposes. This is a healthy pride that is undergirded in love, faith, obedience, and reverence for God. However, the worldly version of pride is dangerous to the soul. It is as glaring as a neon sign and as loud as a blaring horn. Worldly pride draws attention to the inflatable greatness of self. It also resists accepting the help of others during times of need. This selfish pride can never be satisfied, because - in its realm - it does not consider the contributions and value of other people or the grace and mercy of God which makes the fullness of life possible. Do you have Godly pride that appreciates the lives of other people, or does your pride only admonish you? Do yourself a favor and take a self-check in that area so that God won't have to check you.
