Can We Spare 'To' Change?
I will give them a heart to know me, that I am the Lord. They will be my people, and I will be their God, for they will return to me with all their heart. --- Jeremiah 24:7
"Can you spare some change? I used to really resent being asked this question by people who were down on their luck. As I grew in my relationship with Jesus, I became ashamed of myself and repented, because I understood how much God cares for all of His children, especially the least of these. The script of my life could flip in an instant, and I wouldn't want to be treated with selfishness. I had to change. It's sad that selfish hearts cause people to not want to share some of what they have to help make things a little better for someone else. Selfish hearts even cause people to struggle with surrendering all of themselves to Jesus - the One Who gave up everything to make a way for us to have everything through Him. Humanity is in such a predicament. Looks like we all need to think about this question when it comes to what is worth holding onto and what we can't afford to lose regarding our relationship with Jesus and with each other: Can we spare 'to' change?
