All This Unsettledness
Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid. --- John 14:27

World events are beyond crazy right now. The earth is plagued with an out of control virus. First responders and hospitals are extremely overwhelmed. Communities of people and families are isolated from each other. More and more people are dying every day. A vaccine cure can't come soon enough - and when it does - how much longer will people have to wait before they can receive it? Still, too many people are being selfish and refuse to wear masks and abide by safety guidelines to help both themselves and others stay well and alive. Economies are in a devastating crunch with many businesses closing. Working parents need childcare for their children. Schools are challenged. People without income are on the verge of losing their homes. Troubles in government leadership have strained action and progress. It’s more than enough to make you want to disconnect from the world and go into hiding. All these things make it difficult to have a joyful spirit during this wonderful Christmas season. However, because we believe in Jesus, we must be obedient to His Word through our actions. Jesus told us not to let our hearts be troubled and not to be afraid. He gives us His peace which is greater than the turmoil in the world. Everything going on in the earth is under God's watch, and we are His most important concern. In all this unsettledness, Jesus gives us His assurance that we are going to be fine, because we are in His care.
