However Long God Takes
When Zechariah saw him (the angel), he was startled and was gripped with fear. But the angel said to him: "Do not be afraid, Zechariah; your prayer has been heard. Your wife Elizabeth will bear you a son, and you are to call him John..." --- Luke 1:12-13
God will answer our prayers. We simply need to keep our faith in God. Surely, Zechariah and Elizabeth - after their attempts to conceive - held on to their hope for God to give them their own child. While they waited for the day to come, they prayed and believed in faith. Imagine how they must have felt watching year after year go by knowing that their aging would eventually warrant the end of their season to produce life. But then, the perfect time God had in mind came for the couple to conceive their baby - and He made it so - just as they had believed. But why did God take so long? Why does it take so long for God to answer some of our prayers today? It doesn't take so long. It is that we are impatient in waiting for the time God decides is best. Waiting has a holy purpose. God is at work aligning everything within and around us that plays a part in what we have asked of Him, and our prayer requests have a purpose in the Kingdom works of God. Even though Zechariah and Elizabeth saw their natural childbearing years pass them by, God answered their request through the spiritual manifestation of His power! Were they really too old to conceive their son? Not according to God's plans. No matter how long God takes to answer our prayers, we can expect to receive His answer at any given moment. His main purpose in every prayer He answers is to help us grow in our faith in Him. Remember, all of our time belongs to God, and His response to our prayers will arrive in perfect timing.
