Get To The Point
"Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find it; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened." --- Matthew 7:7-8

People talk too much. Yes we do. We can ask someone a simple yes or no question, and it may be three minutes later before we get a round-a-bout response to our inquiry. There is a time and a place for elaborations and details. But when we need a quick and simple response - as in the case of an emergency - getting to the point will suffice. It would be advantageous for us to consider this when we go to God in prayer. The wordiness of a prayer does not make our petitions so much more important and urgent to God. If you or I were God, we can imagine it would be aggravating listening to a ton of wordiness at the start and throughout every prayer! What does this imply about our reason for praying in the first place? A dressed-up prayer may imply a dressed-up faith. However, when we pray a prayer that acknowledges God and gets right to the point of the prayer, we demonstrate our confident faith in the One to Whom we pray. Do you have total faith that God can and will provide answers to your prayers? Well then, get to the point!
