Be True to Yourself
Am I now trying to win the approval of human beings, or of God? Or am I trying to please people? If I were still trying to please people, I would not be a servant of Christ. --- Galatians 1:10

Please, please spend time with God each and every day of your life! Don’t offer Him a brief pause for a quick scripture reading or a rehearsed and empty prayer. Give Him the same attention you give to anything else in your life that is extremely important to you. God has you on His mind all of the time. Spending time with Him will equip you with better footing for the daily paths you will walk. There have been too many times that I made plans for tomorrow. When tomorrow arrived, I went about my way expecting God to observe and to be pleased with me. Whether my plans worked out or not, I never felt like God was with me...or pleased. I would ask Him to forgive me for stepping out ahead of Him and leaving Him to tag along. I had to break that habit and discipline myself to wake up to God first. Since then, I spend time throughout the day talking to Him and listening to Him as well. I begin and end my days in His Presence. This privilege is what helps me to be true to myself. On my own, I function in a mode that suits the conformity of activities around me. But spending time with God keeps me walking in the light of Who He made me to be. He cherishes my uniqueness, and the light that I shine in this world reflects the light of His love from within me. God wants you to have this lifelong experience with Him. He's thinking about you at this very moment. Turn to your God. Spend precious time with Him, and learn to embrace the joy of being true to yourself.
