Jesus Lifted My Chin
But you, Lord, are a shield around me, my glory, the One who lifts my head high. I call out to the Lord, and he answers me from his holy mountain. --- Psalms 3:3-4

Sometimes when we are tired and have responsibilities and troubles weighing down on us, we can end up sinking low in our spirit. We are vulnerable to being overwhelmed by matters we have no control over and matters that really have no control over us. All the same, the load gets heavy, and our hearts become burdened with grief and despair. This recently happened to a friend of mine who I know to be a person of strong faith in God. She went through a time of one tough struggle after another. I became concerned that she might go into a state of depression. But she called me one day to let me know she was going to be alright. She said it with a sense of relief. I asked her what happened to give her this assurance. Her response to me was that Jesus kept lifting her chin when she was sinking low. Each time He did it, she opened her eyes and saw Him eyes smiling at  her as though he saw her in her victory. So she believed, and her burden began to ease. In time, my friend did rise above her difficult days, and the Lord restored her strength and joy. The next time you find yourself sinking in times of trials and tribulations, call out to your Savior. When He lifts your chin up, open your eyes so that you can see that in Him you already have the victory!
