What Happened To Your Dream?
Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus. --- Philippians 3:13-14
Alicia knew without a shadow of a doubt that she wanted to be a schoolteacher when she grew up. She just loved learning! Coincidentally, most of her mother’s siblings were educators. Alicia's father despised teachers, and he did everything in his power to kill her dream. Alicia's teachers saw that she was an exceptional student and would excel in college. But by the time she graduated from high school, her father's efforts had snuffed out her hopes of becoming an educator. One day, many years later in her adult life, the Lord revealed to Alicia that her dream had never died. He was holding it in His care until He was ready for her to pursue it. You see, Alicia's dream had been God’s vision for her life all along. She didn't believe it at first. She even resisted it for a while. Finally, Alicia could no longer extinguish the long-ago dream that had resurged in her spirit with even more fervor than before. She obeyed her calling and experienced the sweetness of achieving a dream deferred. This just goes to show you that a dream held in God’s care is never too late to make a reality. What happened to your dream? You might be surprised to find out that it's rght there waiting for you in God's hand.
