The Value of Work
...so that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and please him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God...  --- Colossians 1:10

We must be willing to work in order to harvest the fruit of our potential. Work is key to helping us develop and ignite the potential God has placed within us. The discipline of work makes it possible for us to make our dream or vison become a reality. The earlier we learn the value of work, the better. Childhood is the prime season of life to instill the discipline of work. Chores help train children to begin to understand the role of giving service. Chores help children to embrace the importance of having responsibilities. The development of their efforts - their potential - to get a task done and done well is a reward that instills confidence. Over time - if we train them well - children will gain wisdom in knowing that the real reward of working is ingrained in their character and moral ethics. When adults practice giving children what they want without them having to put forth any effort to receive it, their potential is stagnated, and those same children grow up to be adults who believe they are entitled to everything. Consider the potential God has placed in the children in your life. Remember how much the future is depending on the purpose within them. Help them to develop it by teaching and demonstrating to them the Kingdom value of work.
