Be Sure of Who You Know
Putting confidence in an unreliable person in times of trouble is like chewing with a broken tooth or walking with a lame foot. --- Proverbs 25:19

It would be nice if we could trust in everyone, especially when we find ourselves in dire straits. Unfortunately, we can't. Even more unfortunate is when we know we can’t trust someone, but we dismiss the fact for the sake of thinking we do not have any other option. Unless people you truly trust within your innermost circle can vouch on the behalf of someone else, it would be wise to be sure of who you know based on how you know a person from your own experiences with him or her. It is a matter of trying the spirit by the spirit (1 John 4:1), right? If you can imagine the misery of getting a piece of sweet and chewy bubble gum stuck in a broken tooth or trying to walk up a flight of stairs with a deformed foot, then surely you can imagine the extent of misery you set yourself up to endure when you place your confidence in someone who has a deceitful spirit. You can do bad all by yourself and come out better. When you find yourself in a bind, and you're not sure of who you can place your trust in - ask God to give you instinctive spiritual insight. He is Someone you can always be sure of that you know.
