Remember Your Manna
Then Jesus declared, "I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never go hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty." --- John 6:35
Because of COVID-19, our economy had to be to shut down for a while as a preventive measure to slow down and hopefully stop the spread of people getting sick. Except for retrieving necessary essential (food, medication, etc.) everyone was instructed to stay at home. With my mobile office work intact - I stopped at a nearby store to quickly pick up a loaf of bread and some milk. It was forty minutes later before I could check out and leave! Shoppers were purchasing food to last for however long they might be on lockdown, and the checkout lines were long. The fear of having or not having enough food was heavy, and while I waited in line at the register, I prayed for God to calm the people's fear. I was reminded by the Holy Spirit that Jesus said, "Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God." (Matthew 4:4)I reaffirmed my trust in the Lord to take care of me and everybody else just as He did when we were small children, and we didn't know about the troubles of the world. Later that evening, I made myself a Duke's mayonnaise sandwich for my dinner. This used to be a stomach filler whenever the kitchen cabinets got empty before my parents could by more groceries. I always said that when I grew up, I would not eat another mayonnaise sandwich for the rest of my life! Well...I take that back. In times like these, I remember and appreciate this blessed manna God provided for me when times were difficult. Reflect on the different forms of manna God has provided for you, and tell Him 'thank You'.
