A Glimpse of God
But whoever looks intently into the perfect law that gives freedom, and continues in it—not forgetting what they have heard, but doing it—they will be blessed in what they do.--- James 1:25

As usual, I went home and ate dinner after church before I headed to the nursing home to check on my mentor and friend, Bea. I doubt that she even knows  who I am anymore. Bae just sits quietly nowadays. She shares a room with her schoolmate - Rosa Lee, who is an amputee. I imagine the two have a special understanding between themselves. Rosa Lee usually pays me no mind.
I gave Bae a shoulder massage, and then I fixed her hair. I knew she was smiling with appreciation on the inside even though her outward countenance had not changed.  A nurse came in the room and told Rosa Lee that her daughter called to say she would not be coming by. Rosa Lee lowered her head in disappointment, and used her one leg to push her wheelchair over to the window. I was about to leave, but I turned and noticed Bae staring right at me! I knew within my spirit what she wanted. So, I pushed Bae's wheelchair over to the window right next to Rosa Lee's and  placed her hand on top of her friend’s hand. Then I gently began to massage Rosa's Lee's shoulders. While I combed Rosa Lee's hair, Bae was staring at her with wide and excited eyes. I looked down at Rosa Lee's face to see her smiling and beaming with her eyes closed. It was as though she was looking in the face of God! I knew right then that I was seeing a glimpse of God between these two dear old friends! The moment was a gift to my life that I will forever remember.  Matthew 25:40 says: The King will reply, "Truly I tell you, whatever you did for the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me."  Even the smallest thing we do for someone else offers a glimpse of God in the world. Amen.
