I Want What Is Mine
So prepare your minds for action and exercise self-control. Put all your hope in the gracious salvation that will come to you when Jesus Christ is revealed to the world. --- 1 Peter 1:13

I mean every word when I say, "I want what is mine." But a question forms in my head, and I ask myself, "Do I know what mine is?" I ask you, "Do you want what is yours, and do you know what yours is?" The question serves to make us think about what we choose to accept for ourselves versus what God has purposed for us. I already know that whatever I can imagine or desire for myself cannot compare to the magnificent plans God has for my life, nor can they be offered by the world. God has great things for me that I have not even thought about. Can I have it all at one time, and can I have it right now? If that were how He had planned it - then sure - I could have it all now. But He also wants me to have what is mine when my spirit is mature enough to handle it. Therefore, I must wait on God to provide it to me according to His precise timing so that I can receive it in its fullness with no consequential regrets. You and I can experience what is truly ours when we believe God for all of it, and when we exercise self-control towards what we are offered in this world. Do not let anyone make you an offer that they say you cannot refuse unless it is the Gospel of Jesus Christ! Anything else is merely a portion of temptation that has an expiration date and no Kingdom value for your life.
