Shining Love's Light
For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God's glorious standard. Yet God, in His grace, freely makes us right in His sight. He did this through Christ Jesus when He freed us from the penalty for our sins. --- Romans 3:23-24

It all starts with you and with me. The 'it' I am referring to is having compassion for people. When we are honest with ourselves, we can admit that we do not always act like children of God. Sometimes we get into our feelings and shut down a good atmosphere. Other times, we dismiss others who need our support and encouragement. God responds to us in those times by giving us the fruit of His Spirit. Instead of chastising us He soothes us with His love, and He tickles our souls with His joy. He calms us down and gives us inner peace. He patiently abides with us. He blesses us with underserved kindness and generosity. He faithfully encourages us, and He is gentle in the way he trains us to have self-control in our conduct. God shines His light on us because He sees us in a better light than we see ourselves. That is how we are to extend compassion to others. There are people whose souls are taking a beating day in and day out, and to have the warmth of Love's light shine on them through us - is the most empowering response we can give them for the Glory of God.
