An Active Prayer Life
I will lift up my eyes to the mountains—from where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth. --- Psalm 121:1-2

Prayer means everything to me. It is the most vibrant aspect of my life! As a matter of fact, everything about my daily living hinges on my engagement in prayer with the Lord. Before my eyes open in the morning I greet the Lord with thanksgiving. As I prepare myself for the day before me, I hum or sing songs of praise to Him. There is a continuous conversation that goes on between me and Jesus in my thoughts throughout the day. I depend on prayer to keep me connected to the Vine, the One from Whom all my help comes. There was a season when that used to be hard for me to do. My mind stayed consumed with the thoughts and opinions of other people, and in listening to and watching things that entertained me instead of feeding me with the manna only the Lord could provide. When I finally got fed up enough with myself, I upped my courage, called out the distractions, and made a shift that was best for me. Initially, there were many times I found myself just sitting in complete silence in the Presence of the Lord. I believe He was clearing my mind and disciplining me to be with Him regardless of whether I was praying or not. Oh, how I thank Him for those times! Since those times, I stay in His Presence everywhere I go, and I don't have clutter getting in the way of our conversations. My prayer life is a guarded channel that the adversary can't intercept or block. What is discussed between me and the Lord...stays between me and the Lord. Spend time with your Helper and keep a vigorous prayer life.
