Faith In The Greater Good
Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves,  not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interest of others. --- Philippians 2:3-4

Jesus did not have to be persuaded to become the sacrificial Lamb for our salvation. He had everything He wanted in His Father. But God desired for people to share in the eternal life He offers us. The depth of love between God, Jesus,  and the Holy Spirit was the contributing factor to Jesus' dying for the greater good of God's plan for our lives. The greater good - that is what the hearts and minds of our military men and women is set on when they willingly yield their civilian lives and enlist to serve their country and its people - even unto death. Faith-driven love fuels the actions of people who can commit to a vision of hope that encompasses not only themselves but every person who lives and breathes - no matter who they are. In the spirit, our servicemen and women have a pre-taste of what the greater good will be like, and they believe it is worth committing their lives to. This makes them honorable in life and in death. We thank You,  Jesus for demonstrating for us how we are to live selflessly for the greater good of others. We thank You, and we praise you for our dauntless and heroic military men and women. Romans 14:8 says, "For if we live, we live to the Lord, and if we die, we die to the Lord. So then, whether we live or whether we die, we are the Lord's."  In this we have solace for our soldiers who gave the ultimate sacrifice - their lives. We remember and pay homage to them on this Memorial Day. Amen.
